Palazzo Mezzanotte, also called Palazzo della Borsa, is located in Piazza Affari just a few steps from the main monuments of the city of Milan, and your luxury b & b.
It takes its name from the architect Paolo Mezzanotte who designed it, also taking care of the internal design, commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce, to bring together the Stock Exchange, then in Piazza Cordusio, and the other main Stock Exchanges (grains, cocoons and silks).
Inaugurated in 1932, it has long been the beating heart of the Milanese business district, home to bargaining and exchanges with call auctions. Every day there were hundreds of operators who gave life to the financial market in the "screaming room".
In the 1990s, with the arrival of telematic systems, the building lost its original function. Since 1998 it has been the headquarters of "Borsa Italiana Spa", a company that manages the Italian financial market. Since then, the main environment and the surrounding spaces have been renovated to make various uses and today it is possible to visit them. Since 2003, the two lower floors of Palazzo Mezzanotte have hosted conferences, fashion shows, trade fairs and other events.
The austere and twentieth-century style of the monumental façade of the building is dampened by eight high-relief sculptures at the foot and at the top of the columns, which represent allegorical figures. To complete the charm of the place, since 2010, in the centre of the square there is the installation "L.O.V.E" by the artist Maurizio Cattelan: a huge white hand with the middle finger facing the sky.
After the visit, in a short time, you can rest at your luxury b & b.
