Fondazione Prada

Fondazione Prada is an arts and culture institution in Largo Isarco, housed in an old distillery. Transformed into an exhibition space dedicated to art, culture and philosophy, it was strongly desired by the designer Miuccia Prada and her husband, the entrepreneur Patrizio Bertelli. This huge (over 19,000 m²) building houses temporary exhibitions, in environments with modern lines.

Designed by the Dutch archistar Rem Koolhaas, the building appears to be essential on the outside, in white cement and glass. Inside, however, the Prada Foundation is astonishing: breathtaking views, large works of art and the restaurant with collectible furnitures (there are some pieces from the old Four Seasons Restaurant in New York).

The building is over 60 meters high and is divided into nine floors. The structure is almost labyrinthine (you go up and down frequently, going from small rooms to a large platform) but it is designed to never make you feel lost. This is because we are captured by a very rich collection of ancient, classical and contemporary works of all artistic fields, including films.

Strong attraction for all lovers of modern art, Fondazione Prada can also be of interest to simple curious. Not to be missed are the Golden Tower (Torre d'Oro, in italian) room, also known as the "house of spirits", which was dedicated to the French artist Louise Bourgeois and the Bar Luce, designed by the movie director Wes Anderson, who wanted to recreate the atmosphere of a typical Milanese old-fashioned coffee.
